Hip Revision - The Dreaded Surgery

Since 1996, my hip was replaced then, and I have played really hard. I've skiied, run 1/2 marathons, and lived life to the fullest. I have always said to myself, "they can fix me, and I'm sure the technology will be even better the next time I have to replace it. Little did I realize that the time would fly by so fast, and before I knew it, I'm 43 years old and needing to "replace" my "replaced hip". Fortunately, God led me to a wonderful Dr. in Plano who specializes in hip revisions (revision is 2nd or 3rd time hip surgerys) Leah and I were so impressed with him, we scheduled surgery immediately, and never looked back. I have taken the whole month of December off from work, and my goal is to use the month and Christmas break to recover. Day 1: Dec. 4th = Leah and I got checked into the hospital, and went to pre-op. Mom and Dad got there just in time for Dr. Barrington to come and give a briefing on what to expect. He shared that the team is in place and ready to go, he will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes for the surgery, and has all to possible parts already laid out. Our prayer was that the socket would be compatible for the new cup to snap right in and then the surgery would be less invasive and much more simple. Dr. Barrington finished his briefing, and then asked if he could lead me in a blessing. He then quoted Numbers 6: 24-26: 24 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” That was the most impactful prayer/blessing I could have imagined. Post Surgery: Great News!! The socket in my pelvis was compatible with the new parts and so the cup and ball was replaced, and the area was cleaned out. Surgery went 1 hour and 15 minutes. Praise the Lord for answered prayer and helping give me a peace of mind as I have dreaded this for years.

FOURTH ANNUAL MEN'S GOLF TRIP

Summer time is upon us, and that means lots of fun things! The evenings at home are full of kids playing in the yard, swimming at the neighbors house, and summer vacations. It also is time for the men's fourth annual golf trip to The Cliffs in Possum Kingdom! Kevin Willmeth and I have the opportunity to play golf with Heath and Damon for the match of the year. It usually is fairly easy to win, but there is always adventure with 54 holes of golf in 2 days! We'll see this weekend how the event unfold's. Best of luck, and for Heath and Damon, remember your on a probation period since many men would love to be in your position now! ha ha! Best of luck!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!

It is absolutely amazing what the mothers of this world have done for us as men. I know for a fact that my mother was the glue to our entire family of 3 boys, plus dad! I look at her now, and she is a genuine saint for her loyality, faithfulness, and dedication in helping raise us boys. The most interesting thing as I reflect back on my early childhood is the impact my mothers mother had on her, and my grandmothers mother, and the impact she had on my grandmother. Therefore, I owe so much to a lady I have never met, and if I had a chance to talk with her today, I would simply say to her, "Thank You" for establishing a legacy with your daughter that has carried down through generations. I am a blessed man because of the life she led and the integrity she instilled in her family.

I know each of you who are able to read this have a similar story in one way or another. The mothers of today are making lasting impacts on children's future as to how they will carry out their legacy! May God Bless all mothers not only today, but everyday, and allow them to create that legacy for futures to come!

*What an honor it is to share my birthday on Mothers Day!! I definately know my place, and I will step aside today to honor MOTHERS!!

BLOGGIN' AGAIN - 2010

Well, after a long time away from the Blog, I am happy to be back at it. I really am only following Trey Morgan's blog, and I really admire his family values and comments on life he brings. So much has happened since I have written my last blog. Here are a few things:
  • Joined Facebook - now I'm already tired of it!
  • Got a Twitter Account - Don't keep up with that at all.
  • Started a new Blog on my Principals page at school. - only post once a month or so.
  • Purchased an iphone, and it is awesome!!! ......to a fault sometimes!
  • Ran 6 Half Marathons in the last 18 months! That has been fun to do something different that I never thought I would do.
  • And, I transfered my www.jimmydawson.com account from State Farm to "GoDaddy.com". State Farm recommended the GoDaddy account, and I always wondered what they were for. Now I know, and they were super helpful! jimmydawson.com directs people to any site I choose, and I have chosen this blog site for now.

Life is tremendous! I feel more blessed each day! Have a great day!

Christmas Time

Drew (9) & Delaney (6)
It's Christmas time, and we love this time of the year. This year has been very different in nature. It will be the first year we don't get Christmas Cards out or Christmas lights on the roof of the house. We did get the lights in the bushes, 3 trees up in the house, and the reindeer in the yard though. With Leah going back to work full time, kids crazy schedules, my new job, and just our change of pace around the house, we just "ran out of time" this year.

Although, some traditions won't change. Every Christmas Eve, we sit together as a family before opening presents, and read the story of the Birth of Jesus. We emphasize to our kids what Christmas is all about. Jesus is the reason for the season!

Merry Christmas to each of you and may God bless your family during this Christmas Season!

THANKSGIVING '08

We just completed our 21st year celebrating Thanksgiving in Oklahoma City. Back in 1987, my mothers side of the family decided to forego the traditional Thanksgiving meeting at someone's house, and meet at a central location for all our aunts, uncles, cousins, and distant relatives to come celebrate together. The Embassy Suites in Ok City gave us a good deal on rooms, and catered the Thanksgiving Meal. It has been the best tradition we could ask for! We get to keep in touch with one another when we would not have the opportunity to do so if we just met with our immediate family! This year, cousin Jon was able to bring his wife and 4 boys from San Diego. We love our time, and the kids get to play at the hotel just like one big playground. Great tradition, and in just a few years, we will be celebrating 25 years! Wow! Surely the Hilton owed Embassy Suites will comp our stay. Ha, I'm not betting on it!
